My Daughter

I am sitting here at the Ibis, Wollongong on a Thursday evening. Working on some eLearning Mentor Network project material that I am involved with. I produced a quiz on "Administering Projects".

I couldn't remember where I saved the file so I did a quick search on the laptop and found a file that AJ did. She is on school camp this week and I have missed her dearly. I know some Mothers will think what a luxury, having your daughter away for the week. But me, as much as I argue with her until I loose the plot and she drives me up the wall. I really do miss her. She is like a best friend to me, my right hand little person. LOL!

Anyway, I found a file that she did and I opened it. How gorgeous! The file's name is "aj stay out". Oh well that is just the invitation I need, isn't it?????? So as all good mothers do, I opened the file and found the following:

My mum

L ove
E xtreme
I ntelligent
S lim
A lert

My mum is a hero, if I am sick she is there for me all the time. She also picks up after me. She is the greatest mum ever.

How beautiful that is. She know's that I love red and boy did she get the slim wrong. LOL! But everything else is pretty much on the mark. I think I will question the extreme though!

AJ I love you so much and miss you whilst you are on camp, but I do understand that you are probably having the time of your little life on camp. And I hope that you have enjoyed your time away at camp and come home safely to your family. I must admit that I do wish your school allowed you to take mobile phones as I would have loved just to say good night and make sure that you are wearing sunscreen during the day and have put on mossie replenant as well as bushing your teeth.

Remember I always love you, no matter what, sweetie.

Two (really three including this one) in a row. I must be getting my life back. LOL!

Anyway I just thought I should make a special mention of this.

Happy 40th Wedding Anniversary

Happy 40th wedding anniversary Wayne and Merle (my in-laws).

Wow! Forty years of marriage. This now days is a major feat in itself.

To be married to the same person for this long. And you know what they are still in love. Yes they have their fair share of "issues", but we know deep down that they do love each other very much.

Merle said to Wayne today, "Wayne I can give you one of two presents, your choice" "The first is a divorce and the second is your own room". This was all said in a loving tone of course as apparently one member of this couple has had quite enough of the snoring.

You would think after all these years, one would be used to it and just totally ingnore it by now. LOL!

Hope you both had an enjoyable day with each other.

Happy anniversary!

No, I haven't dropped off the face of the earth! Just hanging in there!

Goodness me! Last post in September. And it's now 10th November.
Where has the time gone??
Far out has life been busy and getting to up date the blog has just been far to hard. But not today.
DarDar!

An update. Well a summary of what has been happening in the past few months.
Well, where to start!!!!!
On the October long weekend the four of us went back to Cobar to help out with the Cobar Rotary Bash. The Cobar Rotary club organises a bash every October long weekend and Troy has always been involved. So this year we all went along.

I must admit I wasn't looking forward to the long distance of travelling. Thank goodness I just love sleeping in the car. Anyway, we started of in Cobar then head to Nymagee for lunch. Then we travelled onto Ivanhoe for the evening. I won't mention that whilst my turn behind the wheel I took the wrong turn. But we still ended up at Ivanhoe all the same.
From Ivanhoe we travelled up to Mungo National Park. Wow! Is that a place you should go to. The changes in the landscape and colour of the earth are amazing. My photo's don't do it justice. From Mungo we travelled up to Pooncarrie for an ice cream then onto "Bindara Station" which is on the Darling river. Bill and Barb Arnold were wonderful hosts. It was such a beautiful place to stay in the middle of now where.
From Bindara Station we travelled onto to Menindee where we stayed for Sunday evening. Mainly for the men folk to watch the grand final of the league. Whilst our stay at Menindee we took a little boat trip on the "River Lady" tours (2 hours) around the Menindee lakes. Yeap! I have lots of photos of bird, dead trees, birds and more dead trees. Nic thank goodness for the inboat service.
On Monday morning we headed off to Tilpa for lunch then started on the journey back to Cobar. It was a big trip with lots of travel, but the kids had a ball. Matthew and Amy-Jane even got to have a drive. Ever since then they both offer to drive. LOL!
During the October School holidays we did the usually of visiting the Field family for a few days. It was great to come straight from the outback to the coast in a matter of the week. I do know what I prefer!
Also in October Troy's newphew Aidan was baptism at "Saviour's Catherdal" here in Goulburn. That is such a beautiful place to visit. Aidan had a great time and wasn't grumpy at all during the service in fact I think he really enjoyed it.
Other than that it has been work, work, work. It is starting to slow down, thank goodness. I am working hard at making sure that I have all my rollbooks, lessons and marks organised so I don't have that big rush at the end of the last week of TAFE.
Mmmmm! Well just see.
Anyway here are some of my favourite photos from the past two months.

One the way to Ivanhoe for the first night.

The main railway track on the way to Ivanhoe

I actually by luck managed to capture this photo.

The boy having his driving turn. He was very nervous but also excited.

On the way to Bindara Station we came across a Station's mail box.

At Bindara Station, the station dog "Kanga" loves climbing trees for attention.

Some of the many trees at the Menindee lakes.

We brought a canvas which was painted by one of the Cobar Public School students.

Still haven't hung it up anywhere as yet.

This is what travellers see before they first enter the township of Cobar.

See just like the canvas we brought!

Amy-Jane and Holly being crafty with their bikes.

My brother in law "Garry" with his son "Aidan" at Aidan's Baptism.

Isn't he just gorgeous.

Southern Stars - Yes it did happen in August

Amy-Jane's school participated in the Southern Stars 2008 event which was held at the WIN Entertainment Centre, Wollongong.

This meant that for the best interest of the children that the said Mother.... ME! Spend from Thursday afternoon (28 August) til Sunday (31 August) down at Wollongong. These were long days for the children.

The children had practice on Wednesday and Thursday, then had a practice performance on Friday. Saturday consisted of two performances, a matinee and an evening performance.

So lucky me got to play tourist on Friday and Saturday mid afternoon. All by myself mind you. It is really hard to take a decent photo of one's self and the light house! or anything else mind you. So hence the photo's of Wollongong's most renowned tourist sites without accompanied people in the background. LOL! Here we go, The light house, the smelter plant and the views from the light house point.

During the performance AJ had a few friends spend some time with us which consisted of shoppi9ng, eating, tourist sight seeing and playing on the equipment near the WIN Entertainment Centre.

I had a great time with my daughter, and even enjoyed the evenings. Troy and Matthew came down on Saturday afternoon as we went to see the performance then. Wow! Does the Illwarra have some talented young people that God has blessed.

It was a fantastic show in which I would highly recommend to everyone to see. I hope AJ participates again next year.

July in Review - Better Late Than Never!

Just one word to discribe life over the past couple of months......BUSY! That's it, in a nut shell! BUSY!

Well lets see, July in review. Got a new dog, which has been a little unsettling for Cash. She seems to be the dominate female. Just don't know if that is good or bad thing! Had snow in Goulburn and Amy-Jane just couldn't wait to get out and play in it. I just loved that she had on kitchen gloves underneath the warm woolen gloves! Other than that Work, Work, Work! Hockey, Hockey, Hockey!

Scruff turns the big 40!

On Saturday 19th July, we headed down to Batemans Bay (South Coast) to help celebrate one of our friends 40th birthday.

We meet the Field family before hand and caught up with them and chatted over lunch then we all drove to Mr Furner’s home to begin the celebrations.

It was really good to catch up with Scruff and the Furner kids. We didn’t get to spend as much time as we thought we would catching up with Scruff as he was playing “Host with the most”. Buzzing around making sure that everyone was enjoying themselves, sending around the nibbles, etc.

All the kids got along really well. They did the usual thing….all the boys played together and all the girls played together. It was good.

Other funny little things happened, but the Mr and Mrs Field will keep these things to themselves and we won’t mention the word “Toaster”! LOL! Oh Roz we have to have something laugh about!

Troy, Scruff (Brett) and Bill

Scruff and his boys Callum, Harrison, Troy and our Matthew

Brett and his girls Teagan (blue jacket) and Chloe (pink jacket), Troy and our Amy-Jane, Bill and his girlsTara (demin fluffy jacket), Matilda (dark jacket) and Grace (little pink jacket)

Note that the mummies where on camera operations!

Things happen to Good People! Why?

This is something that I am continually struggling to understand.

Whilst on holidays on the Gold Coast. It was actually within the first few days, Troy turned the television on. I was in the kitchen organising some nibbles or getting tea ready (I just can't remember) when he started telling me to come here.

So after a few seconds I rushed in and stood there watching the TV. There was a familar face! And then I listened to the news. It was someone that we invited into our life, to help. Now gone. Why!

Darrent Stratti. He had been shot because of greed, which resulted in his untimely death. What a shock! Wow! How does this type of thing happen? It is hard to comprehend to us, let alone his family and loved ones.

Darren came into our life after receiving an email from the Siberian Husky Organisation. Darren was requesting that a kind hearted person would look after his much loved Husky "Gypsy". For some reason I felt that this was something that we could do. We could help someone out, especially since we can't save the world but we could help this person out.

We love our husky "Cash" and there was just something about this email message that stood out and said that he loved his husky and wanted someone to care for her as much as he did.

Darren told us about how he wanted to travel to Tanzania with his partner Rebecka to build a village which would house Kesho Leo children's village (orphan children).

Far out, some unbelieve work. What a compasionate person. Well it was truly our way of donating to this cause by helping out Darren.

Gyspy is a beauitfully natured dog. We do miss her so much since her return to Darren's boys. And we are also truly honoured that Darrent had touched our lives in this small small way.

What a remarkable person! To have such an open and giving heart. To think how remarkable his parents are to have raised such a wonderful young man.

I still sit here asking God......Why! It just doesn't make sense. But I am just one of many people who continues to ask God this. And unfortunately like many many people I will never know the answer to this.

On Darren's blog he states "Bad things happen when good people do nothing". How true! But he made good things happen over there.

God Bless Darren and rest in peace knowing that you have made a difference in the world. Big time!

Articles about Darren can be view here at The Australian; MySpace; Food Water Shelter.

Food Water Shelter was the organisation Darren was volunteering for. If you find it in your heart or be in a position to help out please contribute to this organisation of truly wonderful and compasionate people of Australia.

Anyway all I wanted to say that we miss Gypsy greatly, but not as much as all those people out there that miss Darren. You all should be extremely thankful that he has touched your heart.

Holiday’s over, back to work!

Holidays are never long enough are they! Especially not mine! The four of us went up to the Gold Coast for two beautiful weeks.

We leased a gorgeous large house at Mermaid Waters. The house was huge. 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, swimming pool, jetty on the canal. It was great! We were so spoilt. We really were! I mean the ensuite was twice the size of my kitchen.

We also rented a Jeep Wrangler from a car hire company from hell! Yes it was a Red, which was all it and the company had going for it. They did business out the back of a Tarago van! We paid for what we got! But you always have to have something to talk about with holidays.

In these two weeks we did all the “Worlds”. You know Wet ‘n’ Wild, Movieworld, Seaworld, Dreamworld. We even went to the Australian Outback Spectacular, which was just fantastic.

The most memorable part of the holiday for me was that I got to swim with a dolphin named “Gemma” at Seaworld, it was a wonderful experience that I look forward to doing again. This was a treat from Troy, Matthew and Amy-Jane as they knew that I had always wanted to do this. And the other thing was going to the Outback Spectacular. Those riders were just so amazing as well as the wait staff to logistically pull off bringing all the food out all at once (and keeping it hot). It was a fantastic show and you should go if you have the opportunity.

I also was coerced into having my very first ride at Movieworld on the “Superman Escape” coaster. Far out! It was the most scariest ride I have ever been on. 0-100 in 2 seconds. 131 feet in the air, 760 meters of vertical climbs, weightless drops and giant G-force turns.

Definitely far out! I had to be helped getting out of the coaster. My throat was sore from screaming and I was still shaking half way through the day. OMG!

These crazy kids of mine! They went on every single scary ride. At Wet n Wild AJ went on the Surf Rider 14 times. Her and Matthew loved the Lethal Weapon ride at Movieworld. AJ and Troy rode the Tower of Terror at Dreamworld. Troy and Matthew managed to do The Giant Drop. And yes I actually went on the Mick Doonan Moto Coaster. The three of them went on crazy rides like the Wipe Out and The Claw at Dreamworld.

They are all crazy. I even got woozie watching them whilst I was taking photos. Crazy!

We had great weather up there all bar two days which we spent one of those days inside catching up on the DVD new releases and the other day we spent cruising around Surfer’s, checking out the sights and took the kids to the “Hard Rock Cafe” for lunch.
It was a good relaxing holiday, but all good things come to end so with much regret the four of us headed of to the Gold Coast airport after two weeks for the flight home. And yes when we go home we had to face the cold!

Brrrrrrrr!

O.K. The photos! How do you blog two weeks worth of photos!

Yes another challeneg in the day to day life. What to include, what not to include! Hummm!

I had another 12x12 layout to published but I was experiencing Photoshop Element 3 errors! Truly don't think it was the operator. Something about Scratch Disk Error! Errrr!

Here are two photos that I thought I should have on the blog. Yes it is all about me! Especially when I got to swim with Gemma the dolphin!

Well earnt Rest and Relaxation!

Just wanted to brag about flying up to the Gold Coast tomorrow (saturday 28th June) lunch time for 2 weeks break!

This is so much needed and deserved after a hectic term of work. Wow! How busy has it been. Full on is an understatement! Work, travel, professional development, travel, work, lesson planning, work, travel, professional development. Phew!

I must say that I have fully enjoyed the work, travel and professional development, probably just basically being flat out. But the time goes far to quick.

Anyway back to the holiday.....the kids are so excited. They have just gone to sleep at now at 10.45 pm. I had to repack the kids bags as Matthew thought that he really needed a beanie and flanny PJ's just in case it got cold on the Gold Coast. Cold....compared to Goulburn. I certainly think not!

AJ.......well! Her luggage was fully packed. You know the essential items like 2 pairs of flanny pj's, two tracksuits, three t-shirts, two toiletry bags, two pairs of swimmers, nappies for her teddy. You have to laugh! God love her. I was most impressed that she actually used the special protector bag over her luggage. Well it is Spencer Rutherford luggage you no! Matching mother and daugther luggage!

Yes a bit special!

Troy has done all the organising and booking. Yes I know! Besides I haven’t had the time. He has even printed out maps to where we are staying, the layout of the airport at Coolangatta, hire car details, theme park info.

He has booked a 4 bedroom, two storey house with a pool over looking a canal http://www.stayz.com.au/30435 . He also has hired a Jeep Wrangler
for the fortnight. Just don’t know where we will fit the luggage, but that is a minor detail!

Finally, after 15 years of training! Opps I mean marriage! LOL!

Anyway go and get some much need beauty sleep for this holiday goer! Still have to finish off packing for me! Arrgh!

!!Warning:- the contents of this particular post might shock some of you!!

Well miracles do happen! You might wanted to make sure you are sitting down and don't have a coffee in hand when you continue reading on.

Guess what? I actually did some traditional scrapbooking yesterday. Yes I know, such a big shock to the system! Especially mine! LOL!

Yeap no digital, just plain old fashioned touchy feely scrapbooking layouts. And here is the next surprisingly shocking bit.
3 double page layouts, and

6 single page layouts
Complete, all in one day! I need to say again completed all in one (1) day. I know, what goes on there? Well I will tell you.

After spending last weekend at the SWS Retreat, I thought I best start using up the many many supplies I have for traditional scrapbooking and besides I was in the mood!!

Amy-Jane went to one of friends house for a sleep over. Troy and Matthew went trial riding up the Cookbundoon Mountain range. So that just left little old me, alone at home, to yes you guessed it, scrapbook!

And I didn't even have to stop and feed children, run them around to places, go to sports, provide entertain to anyone, except for me! Hooray! I even had tea in the slow cooker - BBQ Beef Ribs - Yummy (thanks Carol for posting that receipe on SOF). All organised. So off I went. OMG - how productive was I. I am still in shock, I think!

I even rewarded myself after the vast amount of LO production with some Mercy Valley Sweet Chilli Cheese, Menindee Seedless Grapes, a little bit of Cabo, rice crackers and a glass of Cab Sav. This was well deserved!

Wow! I achieved, I produced, I didn't procrasinate! LOL!

I couldn't be bothered scanning in the layouts so I just took some photos of them. If you may notice that the Lusi Austin "Freestyle" effect is on just about every single one! See what you have now create Lusi Lou!

No staples on this page, just lots of Artline Marker pen, Lusi!

Yes Aunty Ro I tried to cram every photo onto the pages! LOL!

Lusi this photo doesn't do the LO any justice for the Artline Marker! But please take note!

Scrapping with Soul - Scrapbook Retreat - Hey What an Excuse!

Yes I truly don't need an excuse to get away and spend time with girlfriends and the occasional bit of scrapbooking! :)

Scrapping with Soul had their 3rd Scrapbooking Retreat from Friday 30th May to Sunday 1st June at Waterslea, North Nowra. It is such a beautiful place to go and just sit and relax and watch the dairy cows on the flat and the occasional boat go by.

This years theme was "Love". The girls always organise such a great weekend. We are so thankful that the SWS team are so organised and ensure that all those who attend have a great relaxing time.
Once again this year I took the trusty laptop to do lots and lots of digital scrapbooking! Ha! I did manage to unpack the laptop and set it all up, but completing lots and lots of layouts didn't happen. Oh yes I did a couple but that was about it.

I did more talking than anything and really I knew that was on the card for the weekend. So I thought I best do a couple of the workshops that the team organised so that I actually had something to bring home completed. You know, something to show productivity to the family!

The first workshop I did was an OTP (Off The Page). It was basically covering a recycled coffee tin with gorgeous paper and blinging it up! My type of project. The wonderful Gail Combers was our instructor for this and she just loves all and anything OTP. She is one of those extremely crafty and wonderful natured people who also loves a conversation or two.
So here is the final product of my attempt of Gail's OTP project! Dar Dar! It is now on display in Amy-Jane's room where I will endeavour to do the little book that Gail had provided the instructions for.

The second workshop was a grunge layout. Oh, a bit scary! Freestyle scrapbooking, no conventional way to scrap, no lines of symentry. It just wasn't me! I even told Ro that I was seriously thinking that I won't do the workshop and will pull out. I even forgotten to bring a photo for it, no harm lost I thought. Anyway then I thought "why not, you should atleast have a go and if I didn't really like it that I just won't do it in the future"! The SWS team had a printer and laptop set up at the retreat so I quickly printed out a photo on cardstock, which didn't look to bad for the project.

But guess what I did enjoy it! The very funny and talented Lusi Austin was the instructor for this workshop. Now how crazy did I think she was? Fancy using liquid paper on a LO (layout), and not to mention the amount of staples this lady uses. OMG! It first appeared to me that anything is fair game to use on a LO for this chick! CRAZY! What goes on in her mind???????
So we did a layout using what ever we wanted and using her new range of stamps. Well now featuring on my LO is the use of stamps, Artline markers, finger painting, a bread tie, torn bits of paper, staples, buttons, chipboard and lots of scribble! Honestly it was quite releasing! And I must say that it doesn't look to bad.

What has this girl started with us?

Anyway, Lusi showed us how to be less conservative with our layouts and spread our wings (so to speak). I can guarentee you that Lusi is quite a sane person and has given me such a different perspective on scrapbooking. As she mentioned in the workshop she doesn't have time and wants to be productive.....like the rest of us! As well as appreciate your own hand writing.

So now I am definately looking outside the square and instead of booting up the laptop to type up some journalling I just get the Artline marker out and journal away as well as doodle on the LO somewhere. I am getting that was now that it is starting to become compulsive to use that Artline marker. My nature I suppose.

On Saturday the SWS team organised a romantic, intimate dinner for 70 odd ladies. Just beautifully decorated. We were all spoilt and received at our place setting a gorgeous china cup as our little present! The tea cup has a beautiful phrase about love. You chose well ladies!

During the evening we heard Red Fulton speak on "Love Actually". She is such a wonderful speaker and I truly enjoyed listening to her. I also loved her sense of humor that she added into the talk. What a character!

Lou, Carol and Me enjoying our romantic evening meal with just 70 odd other ladies!

Photo's of High School Musical On Ice for my AJ!

Well I have finally got around to uploading the photos taken from the weekend AJ and I had in Canberra were we went to see HSM On Ice. Next I will endeavour to get all the photos developed for Amy-Jane to use in her scrapbooking. Baby steps Leisa!
